Our newest update, which will be released on Tuesday, will increase realism and the long-term playing experience: The more provinces you conquer, the more corrupt will your local governments become. This means that you will lose a certain percentage of your financial and resource income. Because there is one thing you should always remember: It’s hard to build a great Empire, but it’s even harder to keep it.
As of now, once you have reached a certain number of provinces, you never have to worry about resources and money again. And smaller opponents barely have a chance. But that’s not how reality works. The bigger an Empire gets, the harder it is to keep everyone satisfied and the further away a city is from the capital, the more will be skimmed by corrupt local representatives.
The new system allows for new strategic possibilities for smaller countries, increases realism, and opens possibilities for longer and more balanced games.
Since this feature affects resources and money, the impact on running games would be too big, so this update will only affect games started after the update.
